[CH.7] Enjoyment After Working Hours (Part 2)

It was an unbelievable sight. The display screens of their respective devices were filled with rows of written text. I could relate to this scene well since I was doing the same thing, but I couldn't believe that all three of them shared a hobby of writing web novels.

"I've been posting web novels online since my student days, and I've continued doing it even after becoming a working professional," Kuhou-san explained as she swiftly typed out sentences with her impressive flick input.

I used a web novel platform myself, and considering the vast number of stories posted there daily, it wasn't particularly surprising to find out that Kuhou-san had this hobby. She also had a somewhat literary girl vibe, so I could understand... I could understand, but...

"As for me, I used to read web novels a lot during breaks! So, when I heard that Hinata-chan here was writing them, I thought, why not give it a try too!"

It was honestly unexpected to find out that my colleague, the idol-like Nishina, was a web novel writer. I had more of an image of her going out and having fun... especially since she used to drink a lot. But reading novels can inspire you to write your own. It was a common progression for a hobby, and I understood that.

However, the most surprising revelation was Manager Mimasaka. She seemed to notice my gaze and turned toward me.

"Oh, I was in the literary club during my student days. Writing isn't something to be underestimated, and the more feedback you get, the more it helps clear your mind. It's great for stress relief, and it has improved my job performance too. It's the best!"

Even Manager Mimasaka, the stern one... I was surprised. The three of them, once again, began typing away diligently, immersed in their creative work.

"So, you're not doing overtime, then?"

"Yeah, I write here until around 8:00 PM, even as late as 9:00 PM sometimes. This area near the station is full of offices, so the evening rush hour is quite hectic."

"After 5:00 PM, it's a nightmare. And sometimes, there are incidents like groping on the trains..."

Ah, I see. With these three, they'd definitely be targeted... Is that why they leave late?

"You can go home separately or have dinner together on the way back. Except during the busy season, our policy is not to do overtime."

"Is that okay?"

"We're not using the company's resources like internet, and the electricity cost isn't a big deal. We're making sure to get our work done properly."

There were people at the headquarters who needlessly worked on weekends and used heating or cooling, so this should be fine. As long as they were delivering consistent results, no one would complain.

With that, the three of them returned their attention to their respective devices. They were really serious about their creative work.

I was told I could leave, but... maybe I'll chat with them for a bit.

As a start, I approached Kuhou-san who was sitting nearby. It seemed she mainly did her writing on her smartphone. She twitched in surprise when she noticed my presence.

"D-Don't look."

Kuhou-san blushed, making her pale cheeks turn red.

She's cute.
