[CH.44] Beautiful Twin Sisters' Day Off Date (Part 4)

They seemed to be teasing me again.

We had gotten quite friendly by now, so maybe it was time to give some banter back.

"Haha, but I might have become a bit interested in someone just now."

"Oh, really? Who is it?"

"Well, when Aoi-san clung to me earlier, I did feel a bit dizzy," I chuckled, trying to keep the mood light.

"Hmm, yes, I must admit that got a bit carried away... I'm sorry about that," Aoi-san said, her cheeks reddening.

"Yeah, thinking back, I wonder why I did something so embarrassing..."

"This girl here attended an all-girls' school until she got her job, so she's not used to being around men."

"Oh, I see... Why did you get so close like that, then?"

"Hanamura-san, you see, she's the type of woman who doesn't really interact much with others... So, even though it was for work, she's not used to it."

Ah, I see. Even though I had been teasing them, I realized that Aoi-san might have felt embarrassed afterward. It was like she had suddenly become self-conscious about her actions.

Analyzing it wouldn't change how I felt about it—it was still a bit complicated.

"Are you used to it, Akane-san?"

"Well, not really. Maybe it's because I had my boyfriend stolen from me a few years ago, and I still hold a grudge," Akane-san said with a wry smile.

"However, I'm really glad it was you, Hanamura-san, who watched the movie with us today," Akane-san replied in a polite tone.

"Both Aoi and I hope it doesn't sound arrogant, but we tend to be a bit suspicious of men when they approach us," she continued.

Akane-san explained that when they got approached by men, most of them had ulterior motives, and being cautious was necessary to avoid getting involved in strange incidents. Seeing that Mimasaka-san and Nishina-san trusted me made it easier for them to interact with me. They had experienced similar difficulties, considering the three equally beautiful women in my circle.

"Oh, I'm not doing anything grand. It's still just work," I replied modestly.

"It's not just about work, it's about your character," Aoi-san chimed in with a relaxed smile. "Even today, we made complete fools of ourselves, but you responded sincerely, and with you around, we couldn't help but think that Mimasaka-san and the others are lucky."

I couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed by Aoi-san's words. It was an odd mix of emotions, including shyness and itchiness.

"I agree. I've started to realize that there are men like Hanamura-san out there," Akane-san added, nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, my sister just keeps dwelling on those childhood friends forever. Didn't that ex-boyfriend of hers get married in the end? She should move on," Aoi-san added with a teasing tone.

"Stop saying unnecessary things in front of Hanamura-san!" Akane-san scolded her.

Well, it seems like I've been able to contribute to a positive direction. With these two, they'll probably find someone in no time... They're quite sought after.

"Aoi, you should... find someone too," I suggested.

"Uh... I still want to keep writing web novel stories, so I'm okay for now," Aoi replied.

"But who's going to read those boring stories filled with local dialects? It's time to write something new and gain more readers," Akane said.

"Come on, I don't want to hear that from my sister, who keeps writing similar stories! Besides, your stories are full of heavy stuff about ex-boyfriends with lingering feelings!" Aoi retorted.

"What did you say!"

"Uh... Excuse me, but could you save your argument for later, after we've returned home?" I interjected.

"Oh... Sorry."

"My apologies."

The two of them looked at each other, their faces turning red, and fell silent. It's clear that they have a very close relationship, and I assume they're around my age.

I remember hearing about a pair of stunning twin sisters of the same age who lived in a district not too far from where I used to live. I never thought I'd meet them, but maybe these two in front of me are the ones.

If we had gone to the same school, would we have had different encounters?

"Since we're at a creative cafe, how about trying to read novels from genres you don't usually read? They have a tablet here with a text-to-speech feature," I suggested.

"That's a good idea. Aoi, want to give it a try?" Akane asked.

"Yeah, let's do that. And how about we listen to 'The Invincible Charlemagne of the World,' the book that Nishina-san recommended? It seems like Mimasaka-san also recommended it, and it might be good material for our own creative works," Akane said.

"What?" I asked, surprised.

"Yeah, Mimasaka-san said it's good, and it might be inspiring for our stories. So, why not?" Akane replied.

I was taken aback. Of all the books to choose, why that one?

"I wonder what 'Charlemagne' means," Akane muttered.

"Well, never mind. Let's use the text-to-speech function," Akane said, taking the novel titled "The Invincible Charlemagne of the World" from the light novel shelf.
