[CH.22] (Beautiful women's POV) What does Hanamura do when he gets home?
This story takes place about a month and a half after Hidaka Hanamura's transfer.
"Well, I'm heading home now. Good work, everyone."
"Oh, leaving so soon? Is something up?"
"Yeah, there's a big event coming up... It's going to get busy."
"I see, good job."
"Take care, Hanamucchan."
"Good job."
It was 5:30 PM, a little past regular working hours. The women staggered their departure times to avoid the rush hour commute, and the habit of engaging in writing activities during this time had become common in the Hamayama Sales Office. However, the presence of Hidaka Hanamura had slightly changed the dynamics for the three women.
"Hanamura-san, you're leaving early today."
"Yeah, I usually leave around 6 PM."
Hanamura, who was believed to not be engaged in writing activities, often left a bit earlier to avoid the rush hour. On weekdays, he found it challenging to cook for himself, so he usually bought food from restaurants or convenience stores, which made his departure around 5 PM seem a bit early. He often spent the extra time playing smartphone games.
When it was confirmed that they would be having a meal together, the three women sometimes stayed until around 7 PM.
"So, Hanamura-san, what do you do when you get home? You have quite a bit of free time, right?"
"Hmm, last time I asked, he said he was playing games. Not online games, though."
"He sure dodged the question when I asked him what game he's playing."
When Mimasaka asked Hanamura about it the other day, he stumbled and could only answer with something like, "Um, well... games like 'ス○ブラ(S○bura),' I think?"
"I also like S○bura, so I play it occasionally. I even tried inviting him to play online, but he wasn't interested."
"He probably didn't want to risk the anger of the boss when he loses."
"It's not work, so he wouldn't get mad like that!"
"It seems offline gaming is his main thing... He might not play with close friends."
"And he's very adamant about not letting anyone into his house."
"Huh? Manager, were you trying to go to Hanamucchan's house?"
"I was just joking. Haven't both of you ever asked him?"
"I... When we were talking about cooking, I suggested making something and bringing it to Hanamucchan's place. He rejected it with such force. It was a bit shocking."
"I wonder what's at Hanamura-san's house."
"Well, he's at that age, so maybe adult videos or erotic books?"
"My brother says that these days, things are going digital, so many people don't keep physical copies at home. Of course, some still buy physical copies."
"Oh, I see."
Mimasaka and Hinata, who didn't have brothers, were intrigued.
"But Hanamura-san's house is quite... big, isn't it? I looked it up on the map app."
Hinata launched the app on her smartphone and entered Hanamura's address, which was in the emergency contacts.
"You're quite skilled at this. Hinata-chan, I bet this isn't your first time researching, right?"
"I-I swear it's the first time!"
This neighborhood in Hamayama City was known for having rare luxury apartments. It was reasonably close to the train station, and designer apartments lined the area.
"Wow, this apartment. It costs around 120,000 yen per month. It's more expensive than mine."
"Really?! I'm barely making it with 60,000 yen..."
Mimasaka was surprised by the rental prices in the area.
Nishina receives company support due to being from Tokyo. However, there is a limit to the assistance, so she's always on the edge.
"Since Hanamura-san is from Hamayama, he probably doesn't receive assistance, right?"
"That's what I thought... With just our salaries, it would be nearly impossible to afford a 120,000 yen monthly rent."
Mimasaka and Hinata are both from Hamayama. Mimasaka lives alone, while Hinata still lives with her parents. Given Hanamura's age, his salary is likely not very high. He rarely works overtime, so affording a 120,000 yen apartment would be challenging.
"Maybe he has a side job."
"He might be doing that when he gets home."
"The fact that he's so adamant about not letting anyone into his house might be related to his side job."
"But Hanamura-san is quite mysterious."
"In what way?"
"The other day, we had a four-day weekend, including a national holiday. Normally, you'd refresh during a four-day weekend... But after the long weekend, he looked completely exhausted."
"I know what you mean. Hanamucchan seems more energetic on weekdays. I always get the impression that he's tired after the weekend."
"Also, he tweeted about having ten deadlines again."
"Well, it's okay to share rumors, but prying into his personal matters is strictly prohibited. I think everyone has things they don't want to talk about, and as long as he does his main job well, it shouldn't be a problem."
"Understood."
"Got it."
These three also have pasts that are difficult to discuss. That's why they won't push Hanamura to talk about anything until he's ready. They understand that some things are best left unsaid.
"Now then... my writing is going well today... Oh, look at Twitter, Nishina, Hina!"
"Huh?"
"What is it?"
Intrigued by Mimasaka's excitement, all three of them looked at their smartphones. On the screen was an account belonging to the author Okome Takashi, and it had information not only about the reprint of their popular book "Court Slow Life" but also news about the ongoing anime adaptation.
"Wow, Okome Takashi-sensei is becoming an anime author!"
"Yay! My favorite work is getting an anime adaptation!"
"It's still in progress, so it might get even busier."
With excitement, the three beautiful women continued their writing activities, not realizing that the author they admired was right beside them.
